Gallery Presentation
Founded in 1984, Galería Manuel Ojeda is dedicated to the promotion of national and international contemporary art. With an annual program of seven exhibitions, the gallery maintains an open and dialogue between artists and the currents of contemporary criticism. Since 2017, Galería ATC's mission has been to cultivate dynamic relationships between the periphery and the centers of cultural production, as well as to provide a physical space for exhibit. With roots in Spain and the United States, and a close geographical connection with Africa, it operates as a space of cultural intersection. Its programming reflects a commitment to supporting artists with diverse voices and at different stages in their careers.
The galleries are partnering for Drawing Now as a way to amplify the work of M.Lohrum, an artist living and working in Tenerife. The galleries consider participation in Drawing Now not only as way to provide visibility to the artist, but also as a means to renegotiate and reshape notions of insularity. In this sense, a collaborative proposal for a single, shared artist resonates with M.Lohrum's practice itself, which is focused yet often more than the sum of its parts.
