Gallery Presentation
Founded by Rina Zavagli in 2008 with the desire to support artists who share the same ambition, Galerie Martel is committed to exploring new territories and breaking down the boundaries that separate various forms of expression (illustration, painting, comics, animation, etc.). It was one of the very first galleries to assert the importance of comics and promote them in its exhibitions as a fully-fledged art form.
After fifteen years of passionate work, the gallery inaugurated a new exhibition space in Brussels in November 2024, a key center for contemporary art and the ninth art. Located at Chaussée d’Ixelles 337, this 150sqm venue, featuring two flowered patios, offers a unique setting for visitors to admire the works of the artists we collaborate with.
Dedicated to representing the richness of graphic arts in all their diversity, the gallery supports internationally renowned artists while also providing a platform for illustrators from all backgrounds and emerging talents. By showcasing their creations, the gallery strives to explore a wide stylistic and narrative spectrum.
These numerous collaborations have enabled Galerie Martel to develop a distinctive identity while strengthening the continuum of graphic arts, contributing to the creation of a new horizon, free from any boundaries.
For many years, the gallery has participated in major art fairs such as Drawing Now and Art Paris in France. These prestigious events have allowed its artists to push their creative boundaries, offering them the opportunity to reinvent their artistic proposals and fully express their talents.
