Gallery Presentation
Founded in 2017 in Compiègne by Darya Brient, Galerie de l’Est initially emerged as a platform dedicated to the contemporary art scene of Eastern Europe. Over time, the gallery expanded its scope, welcoming Western artists while remaining committed to strong representation of women artists and feminine perspectives in art.
With a dynamic program, the gallery hosts approximately six exhibitions annually, some of which take place off-site. It is distinguished by meticulously crafted installations that invite visitors to immerse themselves fully in the artistic universe. More than just an exhibition space, Galerie de l’Est is a place of exchange, dialogue, and reflection on major contemporary themes: sociocultural, political, and ecological issues, intergenerational relationships, memory, and explorations of material and the creative process.
In just seven years, the gallery has showcased the work of over 60 emerging and mid-career artists from 15 countries. It also provides residency solutions for artists without studios in France, helping them integrate into the French and international art scenes.
